Day 1 | Depart USA | USA-PANAMA : Arrive in Panama. Upon arrival meeting and transfer to hotel selected. |
Day 2 | Panama | PANAMA-HALF DAY CITY TOUR & CANAL : Our day will start at the Miraflores locks, located at the Pacific entrance to the Canal where our expert guide will let you in on the secrets and histories surrounding the building of the Canal while you experience this magnificent architectural masterpiece and have a breathtaking view of the ships transiting through the 8th wonder of the world. The trip then takes to the city, where you will be able to experience not only the banking capital of Central America but also the beauty of the colonial city of Panama. We will visit the "Cause Way, a leisure paradise with shopping, restaurants and bars that offers spectacular views of the modern city and its skyscrapers. In contrast, the oldest sector of the modern Panama City founded in 1673, has a charming mixture of colonial architecture, cobblestone streets and ethnic diversity. UNESCO recently named this area "World Heritage Site". (B) |
Day 3 | Panama | PANAMA-HALF DAY GAMBOA RAINFOREST : Experience the green rainforest of Gamboa from within, ascending some 280 feet from the shadowy forest floor, through the dense undergrowth and up to the sun drenched canopy with its thousand shades of green that are only interrupted by the vibrant colors of flowering trees. Colorful birds and butterflies are abundant here, and you might also encounter sloth or white-faced capuchin monkeys and hear the howler monkey cry out in the distance. Once at the top, you will have the opportunity to climb our observation tower (also accessible for wheelchairs) from where you will have uninterrupted views of the vast rainforest of Soberania National Park while at the same time watch the giant cargo ships maneuver through the Galliard Cut (the narrowest part of the Panama Canal). You will then continue to our interpretative exhibits of native flora, fauna and culture with highlights such as a model Embera village, butterfly and orchid exhibit and displays of aquatic life and reptiles. Day 5 | Bogota | PANAMA - BOGOTA : Transfer to the airport for flight to Bogota where you will be met and taken to hotel selected.(B) |
Day 6 | Bogota | BOGOTA : Morning tour. We will start by visiting the Colonial District located downtown where we find Bolivar Square, the Presidential Palace, House of Congress, Supreme Court of Justice. Then, onto the Gold Museum, which houses the world's greatest and most famous collection of gold. We will also visit Bolivar Villa, where Libertador lived occasionally. (B) |
Day 7 | ZIPAQUIRA'S UNDERGROUND SALT CATHEDRAL | BOGOTA-ZIPAQUIRA'S UNDERGROUND SALT CATHEDRAL. : Morning tour. Leaving the city through the northern residential district, we take the Pan American Highway, passing some typical villages to reach Zipaquira where the Salt Cathedral is located. These salt deposits were formed 2 million years ago. The Cathedral is underground, built in a tunnel of salt mines, 200 meters inside a salt mountain. Curving and twisting tunnels descend into the Roman Catholic temple, passing 14 small chapels representing the stations of the cross, which illustrate the events of Jesus' last journey. Each station has several kneeing platforms carved into the salt structure. It is spectacular. (4 hours duration). (B) |
Day 8 | Cartagena | BOGOTA -CARTAGENA : Transfer to the airport for flight to Cartagena. Arrive in the great colonial city of Cartagena. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight at hotel selected. (B) |
Day 9 | Cartagena | CARTAGENA : Morning tour of this incredible colonial city. We start with the modern residential district of Bocagrande, continue to the highest hill in the city for a visit to the Monastery of La Popa and the panoramic view of Cartagena and its harbor. We will visit then "San Felipe de Barajas", an immense fortress built to defend the city against inland attacks. We continue to the "Gate of the Clock", main entrance to the old walled and beautiful city, where the Inquisition Palace and San Pedro Claver are located. (B) |
Day 10 | ROSARIO ISLANDS | CARTAGENA - ROSARIO ISLANDS : Today you will enjoy the beauty of Rosarios Islands and its beaches, an excursion to an spectacular coral reef and marine life. Depart in the morning for a 45-minute trip by speedboat. A tour guide will provide very valuable historical information about the bay, the outlying villages and the main entrance to Cartagena by sea. Upon arrival at the selected island (Isla del Pirata or Isla del Sol), you may appreciate the imposing beauty of the place and its ecological environment. A series of optional activities are offered, such as snorkeling, a panoramic tour of some of the 27 islands, transfer to the aquarium to enjoy dolphin and shark shows and different marine species (additional cost). Later on the island you will have an exquisite typical lunch and a few hours to enjoy its beaches. Mid-afternoon return to Cartagena by boat. (B) |
